Dear Schreiber Juniors and Families,
We’re excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2025–2026 Student Member of the Port Washington Board of Education. This is a unique opportunity for one (soon to be) Schreiber senior to represent the voice of the student body at monthly Board of Education meetings and contribute meaningfully to district-wide conversations.
To be eligible, students must:
- Be a current junior (rising senior)
- Have attended Schreiber for at least one year prior to the election
- Be on track to graduate with their class (no minimum GPA required)
- Have had no suspensions since the start of junior year
Responsibilities:
- Attend and sit with Board members during all Regular public meetings during
- the school year from 7:30 PM until 9:30 PM (dates below)
- Represent the student body and participate in discussions
- Abide by all applicable Board policies, including the Code of Character, Culture, and Conduct
Election Process:
- Students in grades 9–11 will vote for one candidate
- The candidate with the most votes will serve as the student member
- The runner-up will serve as the alternate if the selected student is unable to complete their term
Timeline:
- April 23 – May 7: Application window open
- May 7 by 3:30 PM: Applications due to Dr. Behr in the Main Office (late submissions will not be accepted)
- May 8: Eligibility review
- May 9: Eligible candidates notified
- May 16 by 3:30 PM: 45-second speech video and single Google Slide due via Google form (sent to eligible candidates)
- May 19 – 22: Student voting
- May 28: Election results announced
- June 17: Student member formally recognized at the Board of Education meeting
