2024-2025 Board of Education Reorganizational Meeting

The Port Washington Board of Education held its annual organizational meeting on July 9th.

Three trustees, Sandra Alvarez, Nanette Melkonian, and Adam Smith, who were elected by the community in May were sworn in for their three-year term on the Board.

The Board of Education trustees voted to appoint Adam Smith (President) and Julie Epstein (Vice President) to serve as board officers for this school year.

Dr. Michael Hynes took the oath of office to continue his duties as superintendent of schools. Additionally, Ruth Smith was appointed as district clerk.

The Board approved the remainder of the organizational agenda, which included the appointment of the district treasurer and deputy district treasurer, and professional service providers for the new school year.
Following the reorganizational meeting, the Port Washington Board of Education opened their general meeting.  Dr. Hynes gave a presentation regarding the exploration of reimagining fifth and sixth grade, which can be found here.
