Last week, Paul D. Schreiber High School ninth through twelfth-grade student musicians embarked on a trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. This experience was made possible by the combined efforts of the students, parents, music teachers, Schreiber administration, and dedicated chaperones.
Of the many highlights of the trip, the performances by our high school musical ensembles – orchestra, band, and choir – at Disney Springs on Saturday, April 6th were tremendous. The students played extremely well, and the audience response was tremendous for all three groups.
On Sunday, April 7th, the students had the privilege of participating in workshops conducted by professional musicians from Disney. These workshops provided insights into the intricacies of recording soundtracks for animations, as well as giving the students the opportunity to record their own soundtracks to Disney animations.
Director of Creative Arts, Kevin Scully, stated, “This trip was an amazing opportunity for our student musicians to experience what it is like to be a performer in both the concert and recording studio setting. And they did so while enjoying a wonderful trip with their peers. All three performing ensembles represented the Port Washington community in a way that would have made all our residents proud. Congratulations to the students, their teachers, and the chaperones on a wonderful trip!”
