Summer 2024 Driver’s Ed

 

The Summer Session will run from July 1, 2024 to August 16, 2024.

 

Registration for Port Washington residents will begin Wednesday May 29, 2024 at 9:00am.

Registration for non-Port Washington residents will begin Thursday May 30, 2024 at 9:00am

 

Students must register for BOTH a Driving Car and a Theory Class. Students will choose an “A” Day or “B” Day, then select the Driving Car, then select the Theory Class for the day they choose.

 

Students must be 16 years of age with a valid New York State learners permit by the first day of class.  Please enter students’ name as it appears on the New York State learners permit.  Students MUST submit a copy of the learner's permit prior to the first class.

 

This program includes 24 hours of classroom instruction, AND 24 hours of driving instruction, with each student spending 6 hours behind the wheel and 18 hours observing. Additional driving practice outside of class is required by New York State. 

 

The fee for Port Washington residents is $725, $825 for non-residents. Withdrawal before the start of the semester, will receive a refund minus a $20 processing fee.  After the start of the semester, there will be no refunds. Partial Scholarships are available for students eligible for free or reduced lunch. 

 

Attendance at all classes is mandatory.  According to State Law, any absence and/or lateness must be made up. Only 2 make-ups are allowed.    

 

All Theory classes will be held in person at Schreiber High School, in room 109 (the CAD lab) with Mr. Miller.  In-car driving lessons will be provided by Bell Auto Driving School for the designated 90-minute sessions. Each car will have four students per session. 

 

Students who successfully complete the requirement for this course will receive a Student Certificate of Completion (MV285). After receiving the MV-285 and passing the road test, at 17 years old you are eligible for a regular class D license.
